Page Turners Book Club

Location: This group will meet in person in the Schoolhouse

Last Tuesday of the Month at 1pm 
An afternoon book group that reads fiction titles with the occasional non-fiction title. This group runs September through June. Registration is not required and drop-ins are welcome. Join other local foodies to talk about what you made, what you liked or did not like, get recipes, and more! Slightly Literary Book Subscription Box

Location: Lobby

Pick up the second week of each month beginning on Tuesday

A fun, themed book box for adults! Each box will have a themed book(s) and some goodies. You get to keep the goodies, but the books do need to be returned. 

Boxes will be available for pick up the 2nd Tuesday of each month and you will have one week to pick up. You must have a valid SAILS library card to register. Prefer a large print title? Sign up for our COA edition on the event calendar! The themes are the same, pick up is just at the Council on Aging.

Watercolor Meet Ups

Do you enjoy painting with watercolors?

This group is for adult watercolor painters, all levels welcome, to gather together while painting your own projects. Join us on Tuesday afternoons for a relaxed painting session where we can share techniques, ideas, tips and projects. Bring with you your supplies and what you’re currently working on. Please note that there will be no instruction given.

Bring your appetite and join other foodies at Read It and Eat It. Each month we will be discussing different chefs, cuisines, or regions. Come share your experiments, experiences, triumphs, and tragedies. Plates, napkins, silverware, and water will be provided. Don’t forget some containers because there are usually leftovers to take home!

There will be several cookbook titles to go along with each meeting’s theme available for browsing and check out at the circulation desk. Please remember to bring a copy of your recipe to the   meeting.

Learn the basics of belly dance – shimmies, hip circles, figure 8s, and snake arms – in this no-dance-experience-necessary evening of movement. Explore how slight variations in the moves, and a bit of attitude, can create endless possibilities, whether you want to dance for fun or exercise. These gentle movements are appropriate for all ages and bodies. Join Anechka for this evening of belly dance.

Looking to relax after a stressful day at work, school or after being home with the kids? Wind down for the evening with a meditation session to calm your mind and body.

We will use chairs for this class, so you don’t need to bring anything!

Come and enjoy a FUN, interactive program that will make you want to lace up your boots and hit the trails! Get practical, hands-on information about gear requirements, readiness, GPS trackers, footwear, snacks, great options for building mileage, hiking as a form of meditation, and more! Learn from lifelong hiker and Appalachian Mountain Club guidebook author Alison O’Leary about planning and executing safe and enjoyable hikes. 

 

Topics include:

  • Gear you don’t have to buy.
  • Solos – resources for connecting with other hikers.
  •  Check lists that ensure you’re prepared.
  •  A route-by-route plan to build skills.
  •  Suggestions for longer, more challenging hikes.

Alison O’Leary is author of the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Best Day Hikes Near Boston guidebook. She’s a finisher of the NE67 and Winter 48 hikes.

The Words and Wisdom of Willie Nelson with Matt York

Saturday, October 19th, 1:00-2:00pm, Community Room

The Words and Wisdom of Willie Nelson w/Matt YorkLongtime New England singer/songwriter Matt York will perform songs and tell stories about the great Willie Nelson. York will focus on Willie’s long and illustrious music career that has spanned over seven decades. In both 2022 and 2023, York was nominated for the Boston Music Award for Best Country Artist and last year, his album, Gently Used, was named one of the top albums by Worcester Magazine.

Registration is not required.
