Junior Library Council

Students in Grades 4-6

Join the Junior Library Council to help make the Norfolk Public Library a place where you can be yourself and find stuff you want. We WANT your input! The JLC does fundraising, helps at our book sale and some children’s programs, plans programs for their peers, and selects stuff for the library to buy.

What’s the payoff?

Community service hours (if you need them), meeting new people and new books, and an end-of-the-year sleepover celebration in the library with a scavenger hunt, movie, pizza, and more.

-The first Wednesday of the month is our mandatory general meeting from 3:30-4:30pm. Dates are subject to adjustment for holidays or school programs. If you miss more than 4 meetings without notifying Marissa, you may not attend the sleepover.
-The third Wednesday of the month is an optional book discussion, same time, same place. Bring a book suggestion to the meeting and if yours is picked, you get to be the next host.

Students from ANY town are welcome!

Apply for the group online here and register online for the first meeting on September 6 at 3:30pm at this link. Contact Marissa Antosh, Senior Youth Services Librarian, at [email protected] for more info. Depending on how many applications we get, we may fill the group by lottery.
