It was one of the most momentous events of the twentieth century. Admiral Yamamoto achieved a major tactical victory at Pearl Harbor, but not the strategic knockout blow he had hoped for. Japan’s attack on the Hawaiian Islands globalized the Second World War. Within days, both Germany and Italy declared war on the United States as well. What followed, was the most destructive conflict in world history.
